Free Methodist Church

The Free Methodist Church is a movement of Christian congregations all across our country that are committed to sharing the good news of faith in Jesus Christ and encouraging believers into a life of ongoing transformation that impacts our families, our communities and our nation.

We are committed to the authority of the Bible and to the life of the Spirit. We seek to allow God to shape our whole lives – attitudes, thoughts and relationships. Free Methodists seek to help people find new life in Christ and to live lives of loving integrity.

We are committed to the biblical principle that all believers are participants in God’s purposes. Our churches are eager to help people discover how they can know God and serve others in meaningful ways and so bring about transformation in our world.

Free Methodist Church roots are deeply embedded in the spiritual awakening of 18th century England which gave rise to the Methodist movement. Today, the Free Methodist Church ministers in 70 countries around the world. In Canada, over 150 churches are located as far west as Vancouver and as far east as Sherbrooke, Quebec City, Quebec.

A Testimony about Warkworth Free Methodist Church…

Let me say!! That when you enter the double doors of the Free Methodist Church on the hill near the four corners a warm gentle peace envelope your being. Smiling faces, a hug and /or handshake greets you as if you were a long lost relative coming home to stay… There on the wall behind the pulpit is a barren wooden cross, empty, void of blood and body… Reminding us of the sacrifice, the pain, the suffering on that cross and that God the Father loved us so much that He gave His only begotten Son.

The church family welcomes Jesus, the Holy Spirit in prayer, song and praises. Then we meet and greet again including our children, saying God Bless, happy days, love and blessings, smiling, laughing and the best hugs ever are given and received. The children sing and make a joyful noise unto the Lord then pray and off to Sunday school they go to learn the word of God and how to read the word.

Tears of joy, guilt, caring, sharing and forgiveness are wiped away as each prayer is answered. A sense of relief, a strange warm feeling fills the body from head to toe. Tears flow as the songs of praise and love fill our hearts and souls. The sermons also hit true to the core of our being.

You can feel the Holy Spirit moving among us. What a feeling!! We as a church family grow together in knowledge, faith, hope, charity, love, understanding, compassion, joy, sadness, peace, glory and grace in fellowship. When one hurts, the others rally in prayer. The same rings through to the community as we go forth serving our friends and neighbours showing Gods works.

Community dinners, free to all, clothing free to whoever needs it, food hampers get distributed four times a year to those who are going thru hard times. A helping hands up. Visitation to the nursing home, hospitals, hospice and individual homes are on the agenda for our church family to spread the “Word ” doing the works of God and following His commands. We glow in the Glory of God. We cling to the “Word of God “.

We teach our children and grandchildren about Jesus and our Father in Heaven .. We strive to be like Jesus and have everlasting life. To Love our Father, to give Him, honour, thanks and praise for all eternity for creating the universe, the world and all that is in it for God made all things great and small, every living breathing thing… All the earth. Just for us. Thank you, Father God. Love and blessings.
